MY WORK

My body of work, expressed in various media forms, is a reflection of my personal and cultural experiences.  Having lived in many different places from Manila to the Mojave Desert to Los Angeles to the Pribilof Islands in Alaska to New York, I have first hand knowledge of the complexities, challenges, and joys of cultural clashes and fusions.  In my journey, I have learned when to be guarded and when to adapt; when to be emphatic and when to compromise; when to submit and when to be stubborn.  My experiences and emotions resonate in my photography, film, and writings.  My art is the repository of my memory.

In my work, I take words, sounds, tones, and shades of my lived experiences and use them to tell stories that humanize what would perhaps merely be thoughts and imaginary characters for some of my audience. The work that I intend to continue producing would be consistent with this trajectory. I intend to observe the lives of  people, commune with them in order to share their experiences, and transform these experiences into an artistic narrative whether it be through photographs, videos, or written words.
